You mentioned the high cost of the Zag-Split highway. What is that cost, one-way? Is the rate higher depending on if you're travelling on the weekend or durng the week?

I don't have exact numbers, but most Croatians who have to travel between Zagreb and Split regularly prefer to use old road to new one.

Dragan & RibaRiva, thanks for the info. That's about $26 US, which, as you said, is incredibly steep. Tolls over here are about that much on say the Pennsylvania Tpke, but that's about a 300 mile (480 km) highway.
