James Doohan has passed away, but his life- which was so extraordinary - will be perpetuated through the millions of people to whom he was more than a Holylwood actor.

One thing that strikes me is that the show's actors have actually had greater longevity than those of so many other iconic series of the 1960s.
You take other shows comtemporary to it, like say "Bewitched", and realize that everybody on it died what seems like ages ago.
If you had told someone at the time that of the nearly middle-aged cast, only two out of the seven main featured cast would have died by the middle of the first decade of the 21st century, I think they'd be pretty surprised.
