This is not the first time that I say that there is
first time for everything. This time, however, the very first occurrence is
something special – first official political endorsement on this blog.
Draxblog officially endorses list No. 15 – independent
candidates led by Željko Jerkov (Zeljko Jerkov) a.k.a. Split Enterpreneurs’
List a.k.a. “Lista Velog Mista” (List of Little Big Town) – for the City of
Split Assembly.
I ask all the readers of this blog who are eligible for
vote to cast their ballots for that list.
Reasons why I favour list are many, but the simplest
one is that list’s lack of affiliation with current political establishment in Split and Croatia.
The list, which features some of top Split entrepreneurs, is supposed to bring
breath of fresh air to the corrupt and incompetent world of Split politics,
best embodied in last two mayors – Slobodan Beroš (Slobodan Beros) and Miroslav
Buličić (Miroslav Bulicic) – both running under tickets different than those under
which they had been elected to their posts.
Someone might say that the entrepreneurs – who are not
likely to form majority on their own – might prove to be as corrupt and
incompetent as current Split City Council, which included at least some 25 different
political parties and countless number of coalitions during its four year term.
But, because they are entrepreneurs and because they are supposed to be
financially independent – at least judging by the lavish campaign – they are
less likely to put their own interests before the interests of Split. And if they do, the whole process is
going to be cheaper, simpler and more efficient than current one.
